Last fall, the Gaudete Choir attended one of the Choir Competitions in Barcelona. For me, this was the first choral competition, and Gaudete succeeded beyond expectations. I must say that it was only due Anneli Julen's hard efforts that's why it went so well. Although the choir members are just ordinary people, Anneli knows how to select not too difficult songs, and does not engage in much other rehearsals than these, but afterwards those are so thoroughly trained that that even slow Häme people do them by heart. Everything was overshadowed by the Catalan riots in Barcelona that were caused by the fact that the leaders of the earlier Catalan uprising were imprisoned with absolutely unreasonably long prison sentences. Now, of course, when all the choral activity is on this ice because of this coronavirus, it is nice to remember these last year events.
